Velislava Hristova -- Program Coordinator, Varna Region
Velislava Hristova is a Psychologist specialized in Clinical Psychology and Early Childhood Development, a certified Psychotherapist working within the modalities of Positive Psychotherapy and Psychodrama, and a trainer in Early Childhood Intervention. Her previous professional experience includes therapy of children with special needs, mobile Early Childhood Intervention work with families, couple/family and individual psychotherapeutic counselling, therapy in Parent support groups, Psychological counselling at Maternity Hospitals within Deinstitutionalization projects focused on Prevention of abandonment of children.
Nadezhda Hristova -- Program Coordinator, Sofia Region
Before joining Worldwide Orphans in Bulgaria, Nadezhda Hristova was conducting art workshops and language classes for Syrian refugee children in Sofia, consulting on child rights and child participation activities, strengthening school partnerships between Bulgaria and Ghana, and developing monitoring tools for UNICEF’s visiting nurses program. Nadezhda has Master’s degree in European Studies and has 5 years’ experience supporting the Social Policy and Monitoring and Evaluation sections of the UNICEF country office in Bulgaria. Nadezhda also has 3 years working experience in State Administration on Foreign Affairs.
Dr. Sophie Mengistu – Country Director
Dr. Sophie Mengistu joined WWO in 2004 as country director and leads in the development of the program portfolio in Addis Ababa. Prior to that, she served as general practitioner in different health facilities in and around Addis Ababa. Dr. Mengistu graduated from Addis Ababa University Faculty of Medicine and qualified as a pediatrician at the School of Graduate Studies. Her first assignment as a pediatrician was to establish a new pediatric department at the government general hospital. Today, that facility serves thousands of Ethiopian children. Dr. Mengistu has two children, lives in Addis Ababa. She is a member of the Lions Club International and volunteers for several community programs.
Thuy Ngo - Country Director
Thuy has been working in the Social Development sector of Vietnam for more than sixteen years. As national team leader at two international not-for-profit organizations, Swisscontact and Handicap International respectively, together with the team, Thuy has made special endeavor to address the needs of vulnerable groups, including women, children, and persons with disabilities. With her background in both Education and Business Management and good insights into the context of Vietnam, Thuy is able to contribute to the achievement of the organizations’ goals and objectives. Besides her function as team leader, Thuy enjoys sharing her knowledge and skills in Organizational Development and NGO management with the partners and other team members.
(Thuy holds a Master degree in Applied Linguistics and has undergone postgraduate program in International Management Consulting).
