WWO Canada

The primary focus for WWO Canada in 2008 will be on development of our Early Intervention – or “granny” - programs. These programs address many of the issues institutionalized children face (including failure to thrive, developmental and language delays, attachment disorders) by pairing each child with one caring, loving adult. WWO currently provides Early Intervention programs in Bulgaria, Azerbaijan and Vietnam.

 Dr. Jane Aronson

Dr. Aronson is a board certified general pediatrician and has been a practicing adoption medicine specialist for the past 17 years. She is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the Weill Medical College of Cornell University and Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital of Columbia University, and also the director of International Pediatric Health Services (IPH), which she opened in 2000. Since founding WWO in 1997, Dr. Aronson has visited orphanages in Asia, Africa, Eastern Europe, Russia, and Latin America. Dr. Aronson and her partner Diana have three children: Hilary (adopted domestically), Desalegn (adopted from Ethiopia) and Ben (adopted from Viet Nam).

John Finnigan

John is a founding partner of Thornton Grout Finnigan LLP, practicing in the areas of trial and appellate advocacy, civil and commercial litigation, securities litigation, employment law, breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, fraud, negligence, professional malpractice and shareholder disputes. He also acts as an arbitrator in labor disputes. John was called to the Bar of Ontario in 1984, and his clients include major financial institutions, governments and government agencies, insurance companies and professional accounting firms. John has been an instructor in the Civil Procedure Section of the Bar Admission Course and has written numerous articles and conducted seminars on a variety of litigation topics including the obligations of corporate officers and directors. He is a member of a number of professional organizations and associations, including the Advocates’ Society and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America. John obtained his Bachelor of Laws from the University of Western Ontario in 1982 and is a past winner of the Carson-Killeen Award for oral advocacy.

Glenn Martin leads Aviva Canada’s Services and Solutions team within Claims and Customer Service Operations. Joining Aviva in 2009 as Vice President, Claims Operational Excellence, Glenn possesses diverse business experience in strategic and operational business planning with strengths in process innovation, change management and finance/analytics. Previous to Aviva, Glenn was Global Head of Quality with RBC Dexia Investor Services. Fluently bilingual, Glenn has an M.B.A. in Financial Services from Dalhousie University, a B.A. in Industrial Psychology from Carleton University and a college degree in accounting and international business from Champlain Regional College. He is a member of the Fellow of the Institute of Canadian Bankers and gold medal recipient. Committed to giving back, in 2010 Glenn was the co-chair for Aviva’s United Way campaign and is the chair for the 2011 campaign. Outside of work, Glenn is a founding Director of the Canadian chapter of WWO. When he’s not busy with the foundation, Glenn can be found at his cottage or volunteering with his son’s Cubs pack. He lives in Toronto with his wife D.J., daughter Taylor and son Andrew.

John Lockbaum

 

John is Managing Director, Canada and joined RBC Global Services in July of 2005, now RBC Dexia. He has held several executive positions in banking and investment management both domestically and internationally. Formerly, John was Senior Vice President and Managing Director of ING Wealth Management, Inc., an integrated mutual fund product manufacturer and investment product distribution firm. John joined ING Canada in April 2000 to launch the mutual funds Company, as Vice President of Client Services and Operations. Prior to joining, ING John led the integration for TD Bank following its acquisition of Canada Trust for the Wealth Management line of business. A twelve-year veteran of Canada Trust, John held senior management position in both retail and mutual fund investment management during his tenure with Canada’s largest and most successful full-service retail Trust Company. John spent five years in offshore banking, first as Chief Mutual Funds Administrator for Pierson, Heldring and Pierson, a Dutch Merchant Bank and later as Treasurer and Operations Head for Banco Portuguese do Atlantico, Portugal"s national bank while in Grand Cayman, BWI. John holds an Economics degree from McMaster University and numerous industry accreditations including Canadian Investment Finance I/II, Canadian Securities and Partners, Officers and Directors designations. He is an Associate of the Institute of Canadian Bankers and has studied at the Harvard Business School for executive management. John is married with three young children and lives in a quiet suburb of Toronto

Patricia (Pat) Jack

Pat spent 42 years in the Financial Services Industry all working for RBC Financial Group. Her first 23 years was in a number of locations in the greater Vancouver area and after being transferred by the Bank spent the next 19 years in Toronto. For the last few years of her career, Pat worked at RBC Dexia Investor Services-a 50/50 joint venture between Dexia Bank in Luxembourg and Royal Bank of Canada. Pat held numerous positions in many different areas:  Retail and Corporate Banking, Human Resources, Training, Sales and Marketing and Relationship Management to name a just a few. Pat retired at the end of 2007 and is a founding member of Worldwide Orphans Foundation Canada. She continues to be very active and works very closely with WWO/US. Pat resides in Oakville Ontario, a suburb of Toronto, with her husband Richard.
