HIV / AIDS Treatment and training, Vietnam
Vietnam was the first country into which WWO brought HIV/AIDS medicines specifically for orphans who, in 2003, received no treatment whatsoever. Along with treatment, WWO, in partnership with Bristol-Myers Squibb, sent a team of pediatric AIDS specialists from Columbia University to examine and create a treatment plan for each child and to train medical professionals in the most up to date care for children with HIV/AIDS.
The team from Columbia makes quarterly visits to Vietnam and provides ongoing mentoring and support remotely.
