FACTS OF LIFE FOR ORPHANS IN ETHIOPIA
• One in every six Ethiopians either has AIDS or is HIV-infected
• Nearly 1 million children have been orphaned by HIV/AIDS
• More than 250,000 children are infected with HIV/AIDS
• No antiretroviral (ARV's) drugs were available in Ethiopia prior to 2005
WWO is the first NGO to:
• train Ethiopian pediatricians and nurses in the care of children with HIV/AIDS,
• treat Ethiopian orphans with ARV's,
• open and operate a free-standing pediatric AIDS clinic, Barlow House, in Addis Ababa

• There are more than 2 million orphans in Viet Nam, 7% of whom have been orphaned by AIDS.
• No antiretroviral (ARV's) drugs were available in Viet Nam prior to 2005.

• treat Vietnamese orphans with ARV's
